Revitalization: a passion running so deep in Pastor Scott Hall that he left a thriving church in West Texas to renew the growth efforts of a church poised for change in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Hall relocated to Keller, Texas four years ago, to become the lead pastor at Venture Church (venturechurch.net). Upon arrival at his new place of service, Hall enlisted the help of a consultant who encouraged the church to sell their current property and purchase a strip mall. Venture Church has been at this location for two years now and is thriving. They offer a modern worship style and creative opportunities for attendees to engage in their programs.
Hall and his wife Amy seek to connect their lives to those who Venture Church serves. This desire to be accessible to their many members has fostered an environment where life-change occurs, and relationships thrive. Discipleship undergirds how this church interacts with its members and the surrounding community. Regarding discipleship, Hall stated, "Jesus was the master of it." Venture Church seeks to meet people where they are on their journey and walk with them to life-change. The themes of revitalization and renewal are evident here too.
Recent cultural and social changes were received as a blessing by Hall and his church. "COVID has pushed us," Hall remarked about live streaming the services at Venture Church. They were able to offer live-stream services with just over a day of preparation. Their first live-streamed service had some prerecorded elements. However, the staff (professional and volunteer) were able to transition to a fully live broadcast of their weekly services a short time later.
The necessity of producing a live digital service as well as offering services in person has caused tremendous growth in the technology and arts areas of the church. Their volunteer staff has doubled. Now over 120 different people serve in a rotation for the various technology needs. Capable and trained volunteer teams provide the backbone of the work the church accomplishes. "Venture Church has so many experts in different areas just sitting in our chairs," Hall added. The church staff considers it their charge to find these people and empower them in their areas of giftedness.
Recently the church outfitted and opened a room exclusively for podcasting, with two new podcasts in development. Along with the changes made in the foyer of the church to accommodate social distancing, Venture Church plans to add six new televisions that will highlight the work of the church in the local context and around the world. In addition to the upgrades in technology, Hall desires to place local art in the foyer to greet guests. Pastor Hall enjoys art and creative pursuits and he works closely with the church's creative director to design engaging environments that bring focus and clarity to the church's mission.
As the winner of a recent Bose Church giveaway, Pastor Hall chose the Bose S1 Pro portable PA system and S1 Pro Backpack as his prize. He commented that it felt like Christmas when he used it the first time for an in-home jam session. As a closet guitarist, he quickly invited multiple friends over to see and hear the power of the speaker. Like Hall, they were impressed with the versatility, sound quality and limitless uses. "That thing will drive," said Hall with excitement. He added, "The Bluetooth aspect is brilliant." Hall plans on using the S1 Pro as a resource for both indoor and outdoor events.
