FAQs

How is the Panaray 402 Series IV different from that of the 402 Series II?

The acoustic design and transducers remain unchanged. The enclosure has been updated to change the rear inserts to industry-standard spacing, which accepts the optional accessory Bose RMUBRKT1 pan-and-tilt bracket. Additionally the recommended EQ has been updated to optimize performance for wall and ceiling-mounted installed applications.

Was a Panaray 402 Series III model ever released?

No. The previous model was the 402 Series II loudspeaker. We updated the present 402 model name to align with the new Panaray 802 Series IV model.

Does the Panaray 402 Series IV require active equalization?

Yes. The Panaray 402 Series IV loudspeaker requires active equalization which can be implemented using Bose Professional PowerMatch® amplifiers, Engineered Sound Processors, or SP-24 processors. Additional, generic parametric EQ values are available to use with non-Bose amplifiers and DSP.

What are the advantages of using full-range drivers compared to conventional 2-way, woofer/tweeter systems?

Bose full-range drivers eliminate the need for crossovers and tweeters for unsurpassed reliability in harsh environments and natural vocal clarity. Bose full-range drivers are among the most reliable transducers in the industry, with 99.9% still operating 5 years after the original installation.

What are the advantages of the Articulated Array™ design?

Using full-range drivers allows Bose Panaray loudspeakers to utilize unique driver array placement which provides wide, consistent horizontal coverage, with vertical coverage patterns that differ by model to meet the needs of different applications. The wide horizontal and controlled vertical coverage of the Panaray 402 Series IV loudspeaker – 120° horizontal and 60° vertical – is useful in applications that require smaller vertical coverage patterns.

Why did you update the recommended EQ for the 402 Series IV loudspeaker if the acoustic design did not change?

The recommended EQ for the 402 Series II was optimized for portable, stand-mounted applications. The 402 Series IV EQ is optimized for installations near an acoustic boundary, such as walls or ceilings. The 402 Series II EQ can be used with the 402 Series IV loudspeaker, if desired, with a slight reduction in maximum sound level.

Will the RMUBRKT1 bracket for the 402 Series IV fit older 402 models?

No, the RMUBRKT1 bracket will only fit the 402 Series IV model.
