How is the Panaray 802 Series IV different from that of the 802 Series III?
The acoustic design and transducers remain unchanged. The enclosure has been updated to eliminate the front cover and add two M8 threaded inserts on each side to accept a new optional accessory U-bracket. Additionally the recommended EQ has been updated to optimize performance for wall and ceiling-mounted installed applications.
Does the Panaray 802 Series IV require active equalization?
Yes. Panaray 802 Series IV loudspeakers require active equalization which can be implemented using Bose Professional PowerMatch® amplifiers, Engineered Sound Processors, and SP-24 processors. Additional, generic parametric EQ values are available to use with non-Bose amplifiers and DSP.
Will the front cover from the Panaray 802 Series III fit on the new 802 Series IV enclosure?
No, the 802 Series IV enclosure does not contain features to accept the front cover.
What are the advantages of using full-range drivers compared to conventional 2-way, woofer/tweeter systems?
Bose full-range drivers eliminate the need for crossovers and tweeters for unsurpassed reliability in harsh environments and natural vocal clarity. Bose full-range drivers are among the most reliable transducers in the industry, with 99.9% still operating 5 years after the original installation.
What are the advantages of the Articulated Array™ design?
Using full-range drivers allows Bose Panaray loudspeakers to utilize unique driver array placement which provides wide, consistent horizontal coverage, with vertical coverage patterns that differ by model to meet the needs of different applications. The wide coverage of the Panaray 802 Series IV loudspeaker – 120° horizontal and 100° vertical - is one of the widest coverage patterns available, which can reduce the number of loudspeakers required to cover the listening area.
Will the new accessory U-Bracket for the 802 Series IV fit older 802 models?
No, the new accessory U-Bracket will only fit the new 802 Series IV model.
Why did you update the recommended EQ for the 802 Series IV loudspeaker if the acoustic design did not change?
The recommended EQ for the 802 Series III was optimized for portable, stand-mounted applications. The 802 Series IV EQ is optimized for installations near an acoustic boundary, such as walls or ceilings. The 802 Series III EQ can be used with the 802 Series IV loudspeaker for free-space acoustic conditions with a slight reduction in maximum sound level.
