FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — March 22, 2022 — Bose Professional has announced its audio solution was selected for the technology upgrade in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, located in Notre Dame, Indiana. For more than 140 years, the Basilica has served as the mother church of the Congregation of Holy Cross in the United States, as well as the community, student, faculty and staff of the University of Notre Dame.
The Basilica of the Sacred Heart broadcast its first Mass in 2016 when it upgraded to high-definition cameras. As the need for streaming services increased, Notre Dame Studios — the broadcast team that manages digital streaming for both Notre Dame University and the Basilica — realized the nature of the space and materials used with this historic structure required a new audio solution.
DSH Audio Visions, the project design consultant, used Bose Modeler sound system software — a 3D modeling program for acoustic design and analysis — to predict performance within the space of this Gothic Revival-style church. The resulting solution used Panaray MSA12X steerable array loudspeakers, which require no external amplifiers.
As Easter 2022 approaches, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart will offer both in-person attendees and virtual worshipers the same moving experience with state-of-the-art audio and video. Regardless of where congregants sit, the spoken word and choir will deliver the message of fellowship clearly.
