About
First opened to guests back in 1939 and counted as one of 74 islands that make up The Whitsundays, Daydream Island Resort is a private hideaway that stretches about a mile long and is dotted with secluded coves for that total castaway feel. And as of April 15, 2019, the iconic space has officially reopened with a brand-new look and amenities following an 18-month renovation that encompassed over $72 million in investments for a comprehensive overhaul to several architectural and service based amenities.
The new-look Daydream Island Resort today boasts 277 totally refreshed guest rooms and suites, in addition to spruced-up indoor and outdoor schemes, complete with state-of-the-art technologies that have been designed to offer an enhanced guest experience. From private dining spaces to plush indoor and outdoor settings, the resort has a range of event spaces to choose from to cater major events like conferences, cocktail parties, gala dinners, destination weddings and more; each sporting an ambience that emphasizes exclusivity.
THE BOSE PROFESSIONAL SOLUTION
A pro audio system by Bose Professional, designed by Queensland based system integrators NQAV, that graces the various indoor and outdoor sections at Daydream Island Resort. Bose Professional’s dexterous FreeSpace Series of high performance full-range loudspeakers are powered through the globally acclaimed PowerMatch series of networked amplifiers and controlled through the ever-efficient ControlSpace series of engineered sound processors.
Delivering high-quality reinforcement for background music and speech reproduction, high-performance FreeSpace DS40SE surface-mount loudspeakers have been outfitted across the entire expanse of the re-designed outdoor area which includes three new pool sections, the Living Reef freeform coral lagoon that features an underwater observatory with a capacity of hosting up to 30 people, the Eclipse room with an expansive outdoor terrace that can accommodate up to 250 people, and finally, the island’s very own open-air cinema that sports a 13-metre cinema screen and serves up to 300 people for a cocktail event. Installed at specific locations to maximize coverage and intelligibility, the FreeSpace DS40SE loudspeakers maintains optimum aural experience through all the changing seasons thanks to its sturdy outdoor-rated build quality.
Moving indoors, the NQAV team have maintained Bose’s impeccable sonic signature with surface-mount as well as flush-mount (ceiling) versions of the FreeSpace DS40 and DS16 loudspeakers integrated across the expanse encompassing the Atrium, unique indoor dining restaurants, and finally, luxurious indoor bar sections. The entire Atrium resonates with crisp high-quality sound from multiple units of the FreeSpace DS40SE surface-mount speakers, whereas the indoor bar sections have been outfitted with multiple units of the FreeSpace DS16SE surface-mount speakers. On the other hand, Infinity, which is one of the premium dining destinations at the resort with a capacity to accommodate 200 people seated and 250 people for cocktail events, features multiple units of the FreeSpace DS40F in-celling flush-mount loudspeakers in black finish to match the décor and interiors of the space.
“The old system here was outdated, and we were looking for an audio solution that not only delivers great quality sound performance, but is also visually pleasing. The system sounds amazing, and also looks great as it matches the architecture and design of the new look Daydream Island Resort. Our new Bose system is simply a class apart for the kind of superlative sound experience it offers to our guests.”
